Mothers Day Classic 2014

It was a stunning morning at Lake Burley Griffin for Canberra’s Mother’s Day Classic breast cancer research walk and run. The lake was covered in pink, the sun was shining not a cloud in the sky, a perfect day to raise much needed funds for a wonderful cause.

Podiatry Professionals was there participating in “team Hotcheeks” doing it for Joyce, a close friend of the practice.

More than 125,000 Australians joined in with record regional participation and a total of 98 events across the county. Over $5 million was raised in 2013 and Women in Super are hoping that 2014 will exceed those numbers which will continue to be used for research projects; from enhanced detection, to improved treatment options, to support for the physical and emotional wellbeing of women with breast cancer. Projects include: investigating the efficacy of 3D breast screening, improving chemotherapy effectiveness, developing new drugs to treat advanced breast cancer and preventing the spread of cancer to the bone.

We were more than happy to do our part in helping raise funds and awareness for such a worthy event. Many thanks to our patients who assisted with donations, it was much appreciated. We look forward to getting involved with next year’s event.
